Overview of Gokyo Lake Trek

The 12 days Gokyo Lake Trek is one of the most famous and rewarding trek in the Everest region. Gokyo trek offers a less crowed alternate to the Classic Everest Base Camp Trek. This trek showcase some of the breathtaking landscapes and iconic Himalayan peaks above 8000 meters, which has name record in the world. The journey to Gokyo Lake leads adventure seekers through the peaceful Gokyo Valley, known for its turquoise glacial lakes, ancient sherpa villages, old Tibetan Buddhist culture and stunning views of Gokyo Ri (5,357m). This 12 days Gokyo Lake Trek package blends tranquil natural beauty, physical challenge, cultural immersion, and life time memories- making it ideal of adventure thriller, as well as who wish to encounter the majesty of the appealing Himalayas in a more soul soothing and spiritual setting.

Starting the journey from the busting Himalayan town of Lukla, reached by a scenic and adventure flight from Kathmandu, the trek leads you through series of Sherpa Villages, roaring Georges, lush forests and high alpine landscapes. You will be trailing the path of Dudh Koshi River, cross heart-pounding wooden suspension bridges, gradually ascend through picturesque hamlets like Namche Bazaar, Phakding, Machhermo, Dole, and ultimately Gokyo. Along the way you will encounter 360 Degree views of the tallest peaks on the Earth including Cho Oyu (8,188 m), Mount Lhotse (8,516 m), Mount Makalu (8,481 m) and of course Mount Everest (8,848.86 m).

In spite of being off the typical Everest Base Camp trail, the Gokyo route is well-marked, dotted with teahouses, and suitable for trekkers with a good physical fitness level. While you won’t reach the base of Everest itself, but the vistas from Gokyo Ri arguably offers stunning, broader, and less crowded views of Everest and its neighboring snowcapped peaks.
